First announced at the San Diego Comic Con, Warner Brothers, with the help of Dynamite Entertainment, are working to breathe new life into some

of their older franchises. At least five classic cartoons licensed under WBD are to be reimagined as comic books later this year including The Herculoids,

Captain Planet, Thundarr the Barbarian, and Dynomutt.

While these are all major titles and each successful in their own right, the most recent and heavily anticipated comic book adaptation would be that

of the hit sci-fi action series known as Ben 10.

In the past Dynamite comics have partnered up on projects like The Boys, The Shadow, and Vampirella, and are clearly no strangers to working on

Warner Brothers projects.

Ben 10, created and developed by Man of Action, is an adventure series that follows the story of a ten year old, Ben Tennyson, on a cross country

road trip with Grandpa Max and cousin Gwen. When Ben stumbles upon an alien device known as the Omnitrix which grants him the ability to morph into ten

different alien species.

This will be Ben 10’s big debut into the world of comics and is, as many fans feel, a very full-circle moment for the beloved character. Since it’s

initial run in 2005, the show has seen multiple sequels, and has had a long line of video games, toys, movies and other merchandise. The most recent

installment in the world of Ben 10 was the 2020 reboot series which generally was viewed as a disappiontment. That being said, fans latched onto the news of

this new installment eagerly, enthusiastic that this series would be better.

Although there is no real release date for the comics, they are expected to come out in late 2024. and issues will continue to be published monthly

through 2025. It is unclear at this point what direction the writers will choose to go as far as the tone of the story. They may choose to have another series

aimed at younger kids. Or, as the writers have expressed interest in previously, they may choose to go with the more mature take on Ben’s story which would

appeal more to the original fans who grew up alongside Ben.
