The school participates in various projects to help families in need in the Hudsonville community. SLIC and Student Council sponsored a Thanksgiving food drive where food was collected by the four grades. Three other schools in the district were also able to participate in the Thanksgiving food drive in partnership with a local church. The school and the other three school districts were successfully able to collect thousands of items for Thanksgiving food baskets and the church's pantry. “This was a very successful and impactful food drive,” said Hanna Lewis, the school’s Community Coordinator.

The school store also hosted its annual coin war in students' first-hour classrooms. This money goes toward buying holiday gifts for families in need and it makes a huge impact that staff/administrators are very grateful for. Students may have seen the Giving Tree in the counseling office. This tree has gift tags on it for students in the building in need of Christmas gifts. Teachers/staff are able to take a tag and help support a family. Groups like SLIC and the Student Council also do fundraising activities like the cookie bake sale, a shampoo, conditioner, and soap drive that is held after spring break, and more.

“We are so grateful for every donation. Every volunteer and every person reaching out for help as each one has an impact and each one matters. We are also very thankful for our community partners and local donors who support our school, students, and families, “ said Lewis.  Teachers and students have also put together a “Wear It Forward closet.” Located in the main campus library, it is for any student who needs clothing items. Teachers, staff, and students have donated lightly worn clothes. SLIC and some of Mrs. Kambestads's students have helped organize the closet.
