Librarians do more than just stock bookshelves

The librarians do a lot more than shelving books. They work hard to provide a wide variety of books for all ages and genders and give students a place to relax. Data from more than 34 statewide studies suggest that students tend to earn better standardized test scores in schools that have strong library programs. When in a library a student is able to learn more, get better grades, and score higher on standardized test scores than their peers in schools without libraries, according to Liberty University in Virginia. It provides dynamic learning environments that bridge the gap between access and opportunity for all learners. providing access to information and resources, supporting literacy and education.  

The money for new books comes from the budget the librarians try to pick from all genres of books such as fantasy, nonfiction, or romance.” We work hard trying to pick the best genres. Some other challenges they face are people not returning their books. When someone doesn't return their book the system marks them as lost. The student and parent will receive a message being notified that there is a book missing in their name. If not returned, they will be charged with a replacement fee, if not paid, Students will not receive a diploma until their outstanding obligations are resolved.
