Students are given opportunity to run small business

The school’s store “Eagles Landing''  moved locations over the summer. It’s located at the end of the connector in the south building now. Joe Desmit, an accounting teacher, is the advisor for the school store that looks over all of the students who work at Eagles Landing. There are several different roles for students that include: handling the sales, both online and in-person, people who handle all the marketing (website, posters, eagle eye announcements, social media), people who purchase products, and accounting work for the store.

Students working at Eagles Landing don’t get paid. They also get to make their own decisions. “It is honestly pretty fun. We basically run a small business for the school, and we are trusted enough by the faculty of the school to run it ourselves. We have a teacher, Mr. DeSmit, who is here to help us if we need it, but he lets us try and figure things out by ourselves and collaborate together to problem solve.” said Bryson Huber an Eagles Landing worker.

Students who work at the school store work outside of school hours as well. The store is open mornings from 7:25 - 7:45, select home events that take place in the school gym, and Fridays after school from 3 - 4 p.m. Ali Borton took the time to distribute who works after school so hours are evenly distributed and fit in with everyone's availability.

There are some new items that are available for purchase. They are mostly redesigns of other clothing options. There are new hoodies, sweatshirts, quarter zips, pants, and hats. Everything new can be found on the Eagles landing website under the "New & Now" tab.
