The Billboard's Top 100 Hits changes every week depending on popularity, but not everyone agrees on what the top songs are all the time.

According to American Top 40, “Birds Of a Feather” by Billie Eilish is the number one song in the US. Followed closely by “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”, both by Sabrina Carpenter. These are based on Spotify and Pandora listeners and amount of streams. A lot of the most popular songs are pop songs and the second most popular genre is alternative/indie throughout the top 40 according to Unchained Music.

“‘Espresso’, ‘Please Please Please’, and ‘HOT TO GO!’ are overplayed and annoying. They’re not worth the hype,” said freshman Abby Hamilton. Hamilton said they deserved to be up there but now it was too much. “‘Birds Of a Feather’ is properly rated but other songs should be up there, too,” Hamilton said. Ten other students were asked about Hamilton's opinions on the Sabrina Carpenter songs and 7 of the ten agreed with her. The other three students, who asked to remain anonymous, said they liked her music and didn’t think those songs were overplayed.

“‘Rules’ by Killumantii and said some smaller artists aren’t recognized enough and some popular artists have less popular songs that should be played more,” Hamilton said. She also said alternative/indie music was good to see up in the top 40s, but she would like to see more rap, as well.

At the beginning of the school year, in August, the number one song was “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey. “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter and “Too Sweet” by Hozier following a close second and third most favorite, according to Pandora Music. At the moment, “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter is still very high on the leaderboard. While “Too Sweet” by Hozier has dropped to seventh.
