Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Movie makes concertgoing more acessible

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is a cinematic rendition of Taylor Swift’s current tour. The film is unlike other films about the singer in that it is not a documentary but rather a live recording of most of her show with some songs cut for time reasons. The film runs for 2 hours and 45 minutes, compared to the nearly 3 and a half hour time for the actual concert.

The Eras Tour has had a significant economic impact, grossing over 1 billion dollars and causing a boost in revenue for cities on the tour. Of Swift’s billions of fans, only about 1 in 7 were able to get tickets for her live show. There was a crash on a popular ticket buying service, TicketMaster that caused millions of fans to lose out on an opportunity to see Swift. The average Taylor swift fan spent $950 on all expenses related to going to Swift’s concert. Many fans were unable to attend, whether it was because of the low chances of even getting a ticket or the astronomical prices related to the concert, and the Eras Tour movie provides a different opportunity for these fans. Swifties are known as a particularly dedicated fan base, and that tracks with ticket sales for the film. The film has already profited over $210 million dollars, and continues to be shown in theaters throughout the world.

Traditions at the live show included trading friendship bracelets, singing along, and dressing up. Many swifties at the movie showings followed suit, singing and dancing in theaters and dressing up with friends. Longtime Taylor Swift fan Katelyn Rigterink said, “The movie was a fun way to surround myself with fellow fans, I thought it was really well done.” The Eras Tour makes the concert atmosphere more accessible to fans.
