Tyler Lopez is one of Hudsonville’s academic scholars, ranked 39th in the 12th grade and a past candidate for the National Honor Society. Tyler is exceptional and a proper representation of Hudsonville’s student body of higher intelligence. The questions asked here should give a better understanding of Tyler’s life and work ethic.

What inspires you to be the best student you can be?

“I’d probably say my friends. Seeing them succeed makes me want to do well too.”

What are some of your hobbies and interests and how do they coincide with school?

“I enjoy hanging out with friends and playing/listening to music. They both help give me a break from the stress of school.”

Would you consider yourself someone who enjoys school?

“Nah, not really. I think the whole concept of putting kids through all this hard work just to see where they rank on a podium is pretty pointless, especially to kids who don’t want to further their education. It’s only worth it if you plan on using it later.

Where do you see yourself in the future if you personally don’t like school?

“Probably still furthering my education. I don’t enjoy being at school, but I feel like it’s necessary for me if I want to make enough money to live a comfortable life.”

Where do you view yourself on the academic leaderboard?

“I’d say a little above average. I’m in some of the hardest classes you can take at our high school, but I’m not one of the top scorers in those classes by a long shot. I’m pretty sure I’m ranked 39th in our grade.”

Tyler’s academic prowess is not a product of his love for school, but rather his natural intellect and drive for success. Many others fall into the same category, and deserve recognition for their work ethic.
